A private publishing and event management company is bringing out a directory on Qatar’s Indian business community, it was announced yesterday. This is being done in association with the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC), functioning under the aegis of the Indian embassy.IBPC chairman K M Varghese told reporters that the objective is to guide and assist businesses in Qatar, managed and operated by Indians. He said records released by the Qatar Chamber have revealed the presence of more than 6,000 business firms in Qatar managed by Indian expatriates. “The idea for such a directory has come from Indian ambassador P Kumaran,” Varghese said. The directory will feature the names of businessmen in the alphabetical order. The name of one of the main firms of each businessman will figure directly under the listing. If the names of more than one firm belonging to the businessman are to be published, there is a provision for adding it in the directory’s second section, where categories of the businesses will be listed, also in the alphabetical order.Ambassador Kumaran hoped the directory would help further enhance businesses between India and Qatar. The publication, which would be made available at the business bodies in India and Qatar, is expected to be launched in the last quarter of this year, according to publisher Rajesh Nair. More information on the directory could be made through the IBPC.
