NHRC chief meets adviser of Italian prime minister

Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Ali bin Samikh al-Marri met the adviser of the Italian Prime Minister Franco Bassanini in Doha yesterday.During the meeting, they discussed means of co-operation on issues of mutual concern and activating mechanisms for exchanging experiences and expertise in human rights issues.The meeting was attended by Italian ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano and former vice-president of the Italian Senate Linda Lanzillotta.Al-Mahmoud briefs Italian officials on siegeHE Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud met a delegation from the Italy that included Senior Director of European Affairs at The Aspen Institute Dr Marta Dassu, and adviser of the Italian Prime Minister Franco Bassanini.They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in different fields, particularly the parliamentary sector. They also discussed a number of issues of joint interest.HE al-Mahmoud discussed the economic and legislative developments of Qatar under the leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. He also discussed the unjust blockade enforced on the country and how it represents a violation of international law and good neighbourliness.The Italian delegation praised Qatar’s progress in different fields. They also highlighted their support to all diplomatic efforts aiming to resolve the GCC crisis through dialogue. They added that they looked forward to further developing Qatari-Italian ties.The meeting was attended by members of the advisory council Saqr bin Fahd Saqr al-Muraikhi and Mohammed bin Ali al-Henzab, as well as Italy’s ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano.Albania exempts Qataris from visa requirementAn official source at the foreign ministry’s Consular Affairs Department stated that the government of Albania has decided to exempt citizens of Qatar from visa requirements for entering Albania and staying in the country for 90 days during the summer season which lasts from April 1 to October 31, 2018.Lekhwiya hosts meeting on fighting terrorThe Lekhwiya force will host tomorrow the regular meeting for New technologies and Logistics commission of International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP). The three-day meeting will be attended by representatives from the 17 member-states which are Qatar, France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Holland, Portugal, Romania, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Ukraine, Argentine, Chile, Brazil and Djibouti. The meeting will discuss the expertise of the member-states in combating terrorist operations from a logistic and information system’s aspect. It will also promote capacities, information and expertise exchange in the security field between member states. Qatar had joined FIEP in 2013 based on the recommendation of the French gendarmerie force.Qatar-Panama ties discussedHE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi met the Vice-Minister of Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama Maria Luisa Navaro in Doha yesterday.The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways of supporting and developing them, in addition to discussing issues of joint interest.
