The contest is hosted by a London-television channel.Preeti Trivedi is vying for honours in the Mrs India UK 2018 contest. The winner of the contest will be selected from a grand finale that will be held at Hilton London Bridge hotel on April 15. The contest is a unique pageant show in the United Kingdom for the British Indians and for other UK national married women of Asian origin living anywhere in the world. In an interaction with Gulf Times, the Doha-based contestant, who took part in similar competitions earlier, said that she considered her entry into the final round as a major achievement, taking into account the large number of women attending the competition in the first round.“There are a large number of Indians who are UK citizens. The competitors also came from several other countries across the world. An overwhelming majority of the contestants was really competent as most of them had made it to the final round,” said Preeti who has been living in Doha for more than six years. The pageant contest was launched last year in London by Aditi Gupta, a winner at the Mrs Global India Expat Pageant held in Singapore a few years ago. The competition had attracted a large number of participants from among the Indian diaspora in the inaugural edition itself, said Preeti. “I have received very good support from my husband and many senior members of the community in Qatar and they encouraged me to make a more serious effort this year,” said the competitor, who lives in Doha with her husband, Pankaj, who is also an architect, and with her two sons.Preeti was born in Khandwa in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. After residing in the UK for almost 8 years, the architect relocated to Qatar six years ago.“By profession, she is a retail architect but by passion she is a fashion enthusiast,” said Pankaj while speaking about his better half’s likes and interests. She runs her own fashion blogging website www.prettyfashionfiesta.com and Preeti loves poetry writing and travelling to various countries, he said.Being a mother, Preeti believes every child needs loving, caring and secure environment and being a woman she also believes in women empowerment. She supports NGOs in India working to meet the needs of children and protect their interests and rights. She feels that the best side of pageantry is community involvement, giving back to society, spread awareness and much more. She also feels that beauty pageant like Mrs India UK provides women a platform to acknowledge their beauty, knowledge, and skills. The contest also gives them the liberty to share their opinions, educate or influence people and become the voice of hope.
