Qatar Chamber seeks to boost trade with Turkey

Qatar and Turkey have reviewed co-operation ties in the fields ofagriculture and food security on the sidelines of the opening of theQatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) yesterday.Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani met withTurkish Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Ahmed Ashraf Faqi Baba atthe Turkish pavilion during the event. The meeting was graced by QatarChamber board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli and Turkish ambassadorFikret Ozer.The meeting reviewed ways for both countries to enhance co-operation inthe economic and trade sectors, particularly in food security andagriculture, according to a statement issued by Qatar Chamber.“Qatar-Turkey relations have been rapidly developing in the past fewyears. The private sector in both countries is playing a key role inthese profound relations. Qatari businessmen are interested to establishjoint economic and business alliances with their counterparts fromturkey and there are many Qatari companies that have concludedagreements with Turkish companies.“There is abundance of investment opportunities and there is room forthe Qatari and Turkish private sector to further co-operate in manysectors,” said Sheikh Khalifa.This was reiterated by the Turkish minister, who said, “There are various opportunities in projects that serve both countries’ economies.”He added, “Turkey has considerable experience in food processing and isready to provide the Qatari market with all food stuffs and agricultural products.”As many as 173 foreign companies, along with 130 Qatari farms areshowcasing their products at the exhibition, which will run until March22.
