Stunning all-new BMW M5 makes Qatar entry

Alfardan Automobiles, the official BMW Group importer in Qatar, hostedan exclusive preview of the new BMW M5 over the weekend at LosailCircuit Sports Club during the semi-final of the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix2018.Featuring the M xDrive all-wheel drive for the first time in thehigh-performance segment, this car takes BMW M GmbH into new territory.This change of tack sees the M5 exploring new dynamic dimensions andoffering greater everyday practicality in all driving conditions.The new M xDrive is the most emotionally engaging all-wheel-drive system yet to grace the high-performance segment.It works with a central transfer case with multi-plate clutch anddistributes drive fully variably between the front and rear axle, asrequired.Another ingredient in the car’s supreme traction in all road and weatherconditions is the Active M Differential at the rear axle, which alsoworks fully variably and has a locking effect between 0 and 100%.Providing ample power for the new BMW M5 is a 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology.The M engineers have carried out significant revisions to the outgoing model’s power unit.For example, newly developed turbochargers, ultra-efficient indirectcharge air cooling and increased fuel injection pressure together helpto raise output and, above all, torque.The engine develops 441 kW/600hp at 5,600 – 6,700rpm, while a monumental750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque is placed at the driver’s disposal from aslow down as 1,800rpm and remains there until 5,600rpm.“We take pride in meticulously planning and creating the ideal platformto give Qatar’s BMW fans the best brand experiences,” AlfardanAutomobiles general manager Rabih Ataya said.“This car is committed to building on the tradition of a concept – theluxurious four-door business sedan with a taste for the race track –first glimpsed in 1984 with the original BMW M5,” he noted.The new model was also used as the safety car at the MotoGP Qatar GrandPrix that took place at Losail Circuit Sports Club from March 16-18,2018.Since 1999, BMW M has always taken the lead whenever the world’s best motorcycle pilots take to the race track.In addition to custom-made and compulsory safety devices, the BMW M GmbHengineers have donated an extensive line of BMW M Performanceaccessories to the safety car, creating not only eye-catching accentsbut also fulfilling functional requirements for aerodynamics, coolingand lightweight construction.Alfardan Automobiles kicked off the year with the announcement of itsnewly renovated and expanded BMW and MINI Khalifa Service Centre,bringing new and improved facilities and services to its customers.The service centre is based in Madinat Khalifa next to Landmark Mall and is open from Saturday to Thursday from 7am - 12pm.The new BMW M5 will be available in Qatar showrooms starting next month.
