The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of Phase 1 of converting Al Tarfa Roundabout - also known as the Golf Course Roundabout - into a signal-controlled intersection.
Mohamed Arqoub al-Khalid, head of Doha City Projects at Ashghal, said the conversion of Al Tarfa Roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection is aimed at enhancing traffic flow and increasing the road capacity at the intersection and roads within this project.

He explained that Phase 1 included the partial opening of Al Tarfa Intersection to traffic movement on the morning of March 16. This included opening two lanes of the intersection on University Street, one to turn right onto Golf Course Street (towards Lusail) and the other to turn left onto the road leading to Al Tarfa Street (towards the diversion to Al Shamal Road) or to make a U-turn onto University Street. In addition, two lanes of the intersection were opened on Golf Course Street to continue straight to the road leading to Al Tarfa Street, or to turn left onto University Street (towards Doha). Another two lanes were opened on the road leading to Al Tarfa Street, which will now allow traffic to continue straight to Golf Course Street, in addition to a separate lane to turn right onto University Street.
