Texas A&M at Qatar, HBKU to offer cybersecurity certificate course

TexasA&M University at Qatar and the Executive Education Centre, part ofHamad Bin Khalifa University, are collaborating to offer a newFundamentals of Cybersecurity certificate programme. The programmewill cover topics related to the fundamental concepts behind moderncryptographic systems and how they can be employed to secure data andprivate communications. Attendees will learn about the collectionand analysis of open-source and publicly available information, whitehacking techniques for stealth collection, methodologies for theevaluation and validation of sources of open and publicly availableinformation.This programme will demonstrate how to conductpenetration testing and forensic investigations, allowing users andadministrators to configure computers in order to stop cyber-attacks, orat least minimise their negative impact. It will also cover thebasics of wireless networks and show principal attacks on a wirelessnetwork involving the three components of the confidentiality,integrity, and accessibility triads. Understanding this materialwill allow the user or administrator to build countermeasures in orderto protect the wireless network.“By practising HBKU’s core value ofbuilding synergetic relationships, we aim to partner with premieracademic institutions around the world to build progressive educationmodels in Qatar. By analysing the Qatari market needs for trainingin cybersecurity and prudently working with our partner Texas A&MUniversity at Qatar, we seek to provide this programme in cybersecuritythat caters to increasing local demand for tailored training modules andcourses in this field,” said, Rodolphe A Boughaba HBKU’s ExecutiveEducation Centre’s executive director The course will be offered infour modules: Penetration Testing and Forensics, March 25-27; Mobile andWireless Security, April 1-3; Open Source Intelligence in Cyberspace,April 8-10; and Applied Cryptography and Data Privacy, April 17-19. Allmodules will be held from 4 to 8 pm in Education City.  Participantswill receive a certificate after the completion of all four modules and acertificate of completion will also be presented to attendees at theend of each individual module.
