Qatar, UK hold joint Naval exercise

The Special Naval Force of the Joint Special Forces has conducted a joint exercise with the British Royal Navy in the Qatari waters. The exercise included training in terms of manoeuvring, attack, search and arrest of terrorists. The British warship, HMS Ledbury, took part in the exercise alongside the Qatari Special Naval Force’s attack boats. The exercise is aimed at enhancing the exchange of experiences among the participating forces as well as training the Qatari and UK teams on various kinds of operations, the Directorate of Defence Communication at the Ministry of Defence said in a statement yesterday. The exercise comes within the framework of defence agreements signed previously by the two countries to support the efforts made to combat terrorism and prevent smuggling, in addition to maintaining peace and stability in the region. The exercise was attended by Colonel Abdulaziz Mohamed al-Ghaffari, Commander of the Qatari Special Navy Force.
