Doha Festival City (DHFC) has partnered with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to host a free ‘Kulluna for a Healthy Heart’ roadshow, which will run until February 27 from 10am to 10pm.In a statement, DHFC said expert doctors will offer screenings for any hidden heart issues as well as give some advice and guidance on how to improve and maintain a healthy heart. The word “Kulluna”, in Arabic, means ‘all of us’ and it is being used for this campaign in the belief that everyone can take action to improve health, well-being and safety for themselves, their families and the community in general. The programme is conducted in close co-operation with the different medical institutions and educational establishments under the umbrella of HMC and it is co-ordinated by Hamad International Training Centre.Kulluna activities take many forms as its messages need to reach a wide audience.Since heart disease is one of the biggest health issues in the country, DHFC is supporting Qatar’s premier non-for-profit healthcare provider, HMC, as part of a drive to increase awareness of the disease and promote a healthy lifestyle. The pop-up clinic will offer tests for cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar levels and Basal Metabolic Index (BMI) free of charge.“We hope the pop-up clinic at DHFC helps raise awareness around this worthy cause and also encourages as many people to take part in the complementary testing by providing an easy to access place in which to do it,” DHFC general manager Khalid Sam Hosn said.“We are invested in the well-being of our wider community and are always looking for more ways to promote a healthy way of life,” he added.HMC’s Hamad International Training Centre director and Kulluna chairman Dr Khalid Saifeldeen said the Kulluna for a Healthy Heart campaign aims to promote cardiac health and prevent heart diseases.“By providing simple health checks as well as interactive information about incorporating diet and exercise into daily life, Kulluna for a Healthy Heart also seeks to help people understand that making small changes can have a big effect on their heart health,” he explained.“We want to help people understand how heart disease develops and show that taking steps now can benefit them in years to come. We are grateful for the support of DHFC in promoting a healthy lifestyle,” Dr Saifeldeen stressed.
