The15th edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2018 (DJWE),opening today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre(DECC), will bring together world-renowned brands and up-and-comingdesigners in a display of sophisticated timepieces and jewellerycollections, and a programme of new activities.Open to visitorsuntil February 26, the highly-anticipated event will feature more than490 local and international prestigious brands, offering a wide range ofexceptional jewellery and timepieces. Visitors can pre-register fortheir complimentary access to the event at www.djwe.qa, oralternatively on-site at DECC. This milestone edition marks 15 years ofluxury, glamour and exclusive reveals. Throughout the show’s sparklinghistory, DJWE has successfully retained and reinforced its position as amust-visit event for jewellery aficionados, and as one of the foremostbusiness events held in Qatar.Even as the Qatari market overcomesexceptional circumstances, DJWE continues to be an established,prominent platform, attracting entrepreneurs and established brandsalike from around the world. Proudly returning to DJWE 2018 is theYoung Qatari Designers (YQDs) initiative, held under the patronage of HEthe Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser binKhalifa al-Thani.Six talented Qatari designers will take part inthe global platform to present their collections and make their debutson the international jewellery scene. To elevate the local designers andto add to this year’s programme of activities, DJWE has partnered withAlBahie, Qatar’s first auction house, to host a charity auction tobenefit Education Above All. Scheduled on February 25 at DECC, thecharity auction named ‘MILEstones’ will provide jewellery enthusiastswith the opportunity to bid on unique signature pieces by YQD tocelebrate the 15th edition of DJWE.This year’s event will alsoincorporate a new one-day forum, featuring seminars tomorrow atShangri-La Doha, offering behind the scenes access to the luxuriousworld of jewellery and watches. The event will allow attendees toshare their passions and will encourage knowledge-sharing from emergingand established international and local designers, and enthusiastsalike.Spaces for the DJWE Forum are limited so pre-registration is recommended via www.djwe.qaThisFebruary, the jam-packed programme at DJWE 2018 will enjoy both new andreturning activities for visitors to enjoy. For the first time,visitors can take part in a complimentary fine jewellery workshop led bymaster craftsmen, showcasing the delicate art of making jewellery.Inaddition, visitors can attend the daily DJWE Majlis Talks, that willhost informal discussions for 12 persons from the local community toattend, hosted by industry professionals and experts.Attendeeslooking for a keepsake from this year’s 15th edition can join in the funat the Ooredoo photo booth, offering a take away, shareable animatedGIF image on a customised background of their choice. Upon populardemand, French watchmaking expert Objectif Horlogerie returns to hostdaily complimentary watchmaking sessions, offering enthusiasts a diplomainto the precision and complexity of handcrafting timepieces.Internationalwatch experts Artcurial will also provide watch collectors with dailyfree consultations and valuations.
