52 Qatari students complete CNA-Q Technician Preparatory Programme

College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) recognised 52 Qataristudents in its Technician Preparatory Programme (TPP). They havecompleted certificate credentials and are now qualified to work astechnicians in Qatar’s energy and industry sector.The students, all sponsored by local industrial establishments, received their credentials at an event. The guest speaker, Abdulla al-Tamimi, manager, Learning &Development at Qatar Petroleum, gave an inspiring address to thestudents.“We are very proud of the personal and educational development of eachof these students, who will now take their place in the workforce tocontribute towards Qatar’s National Vision 2030,” said CNA-Q PresidentDr Ken MacLeod. “This technician programme is a hallmark of our college, and a testamentto the responsiveness of our programming to prepare students with thetechnical skills to support and advance Qatar’s energy and industrysector.”The TPP was started in 2005, when CNA-Q assumed the technical trainingprogramme for Qatar Petroleum. In the past decade, the programme hasgrown to graduate over 1,850 technicians who now work with over 20industry partners in four disciplines: mechanical, instrumentation,electrical and process operation.Since opening in 2002, CNA-Q has grown to offer over 30 diploma andcertificate programmes, graduating over 5,000 proud alumni from its TPPProgramme as well as from its Schools of Engineering Technology, HealthSciences, Information Technology and Business Studies. This year marksthe 14th year that CNA-Q has been providing technical education in Qatarto support the State’s strategic vision to educate, develop and retainyoung Qataris.
