‘No educational institution affected by siege’

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is working closely withprivate institutions to improve the standard of education in thecountry, Doha resident Batool Sughra, pictured,  told Qatar Urdu Radio’slive show Haqeeqat yesterday.Speaking on the impact of the unjust siege on the country’s educationsector, Sughra said no institution in the private or public sector wasin any way affected by the ongoing blockade.“There are thousands of international students, including those from theblockading countries, studying across the country in different schools,and none of them was told to leave or treated differently because ofthe siege,” she asserted.Sughra, who works as a senior academician in a private school, said theMinistry of Education and Higher Education has always reached out toschools in order to improve the standard of education. “Private school representatives recently had a meeting with the Ministryof Education to discuss ways to improve the standard of education inQatar. We discussed various issues faced by schools and ways to resolvethem. Such meetings and plans are only possible if there is peace andstability in the country,” Sughra said.Haqeeqat is a joint venture of Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp UrduRadio. The show, hosted by Saif-ur-Rehman, aims to engage and interactwith the large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar.
