The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has launched a new website dedicated to Workers' Welfare, a key legacy initiative of the SC.

The site, www.workerswelfare.qa, features a timeline of the SC's Workers' Welfare journey, containing details of the numerous initiatives being delivered to benefit the thousands of workers engaged in 2022 FIFA World Cup projects, the SC has said in a statement.

The SC is responsible for delivering the infrastructure required for Qatar to host the world’s biggest single-sport event in four years’ time.

SC secretary-general Hassan al-Thawadi said the site's launch would help share details of workers' welfare progress in Qatar. "We are committed to transparency in relation to workers' welfare and this new website will include details of every project related to this area," he noted.

"We are proud of our achievements in relation to workers' welfare but know there is still much to be done. We remain determined to leave a global legacy in relation to workers' rights," al-Thawadi added.

Since winning the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and introducing the Workers' Welfare Standards in 2014, the SC has implemented a range of measures to safeguard workers involved in its projects, including appointing Impactt Ltd as the SC's external monitor, signing a co-operation agreement with global trade union Building and Wood Workerstarget="_blank"'>
