US President Barack Obama took a break yesterday from some of the more demanding tasks of his office to play with children on the White House lawn as thousands gathered for the annual Easter Egg Roll.Obama along with his wife, daughters, mother-in-law and the Easter Bunny welcomed more than 30,000 people to the South Lawn of the White House for the 134-year-old tradition.First Lady Michelle Obama joked that her husband would face some pint-sized competition. “The president is going to try to beat a three-year-old, which I hope he does not,” she joked. The president then blew the whistle for groups of children rolling decorated eggs along the grass with spoons, before declaring, “We’ve got a winner.”The theme of this year’s event is “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move” to coincide with Michelle Obama’s efforts to fight childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles. In addition to the traditional egg activities, children were being entertained by a variety of musical acts, Sesame Street characters and books read by celebrities, including the First Family.
