HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has met the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in New York. They discussed means of enhancing co-operation between Qatar and the United Nations in areas of mutualinterest, and reviewed the latest regional and internationaldevelopments. HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister briefedthe UN secretary-general on the illegal measures taken against Qatar bythe siege countries, their grave consequences for regional and international security and peace and their impact on human rights. Hereferred to the recent report of the Office of the High Commissioner forHuman Rights which described the measures taken by the siege countriesas arbitrary and affecting human rights. He praised the great roleplayed by UN organisations in the establishment of public rights andjustice and stability. During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohamed binAbdulrahman al-Thani also reviewed the messages of Qatar which alertedthe Security Council and the UN secretary-general to violations ofQatar’s airspace by the UAE. The meeting was attended by HE thePermanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha AliaAhmed bin Saif al-Thani.
