People from across the country have flocked to the Torba Farmers Market in Education City since its launch in November 2017, the organisers have said. The Qatari-founded initiative provides organic, locally-grown food and homemade products to the wider community in a friendly marketplace environment, and from Thursday, February 1, it will extend its opening hours. The market, which takes place at Qatar Foundation’s Ceremonial Court and is accessible from Education City’s Gate 2, will now open every Thursday from 12noon to 7pm, every Friday from 8am to 11am and from 1pm to 5pm, and every Saturday from 10am to 7pm. Noor Nasser al-Maadeed, head of Community Engagement, Community Development at QF, said: “Since its opening, the market has gone from strength to strength, and we’re absolutely delighted with the response we’ve had from the wider public. Community development is at the heart of everything we do, and the Torba Farmers Market has become a wonderful platform for bringing people together, fostering social engagement between vendors, farmers, producers and the public.”
