HEC Paris offers master’s degree in strategic business unit management

HEC Paris, one of the world’s leading providers of executive education,has presented an updated version of its Specialised Master’s in BusinessUnit Management (SBUM) degree programme. The updated master’s degree is designed to give participants a distinctadvantage in the competitive employment market. The 18-month programmetargets professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to enhance theirleadership and management skills or looking at managing their ownbusiness. The programme structure includes a core curriculum taken by allparticipants, a professional thesis writing and the flexibility tocustomise part of the programme by following one of three tracks alignedto participants’ chosen career aspirations: general management,marketing and sales or human resources (HR) management.HEC Paris in Qatar dean and CEO Dr Nils Plambeck, SBUM academic directorDr Wolfgang Amann, Commercial Bank’s AGM, asset and liabilitymanagement head Omran Yousef MH al-Sherawi (also SBUM alumnus class of2013), addressed the launch event held at the HEC Paris Doha Campus, atTornado Tower, yesterday. “We have a deep understanding of today’sglobal business landscape and the expertise to develop professionalswith the skills they need to further enhance their leadership andmanagement skills,” Dr Plambeck said. “In partnership with QatarFoundation, we are committed to training and developing the region’sbusiness leaders of tomorrow.” A team of experts led by Dr Amann will guide participants through thecore curriculum that will focus on understanding, creating andimplementing a successful strategy, understanding finance, leadership,and change management. They will also have access to world-renowned HECParis faculty professor Francois Railliet, who will lead the HRmanagement track, and professor Christopher Hogg, who will lead themarketing and sales track.Expressing his appreciation for the programme, al-Sherawi explained:“The skills you develop and the knowledge and expertise you have accessto, at a renowned business school like HEC Paris, are invaluable to helpyou in achieving your goals.”All executive short programmes and certificates taken separately can beused towards the specialised master’s degree programme at a later stage.The next intake for the new SBUM programme will be in July 2018.
