GU-Q to hold session for aspiring students

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) will hold a special event today for prospective students. From classes to campus tours and meetings with Georgetown professors,the ‘Day in the Life of a Georgetown Student’ event – free and open tothe public – will offer a unique experience to interested applicants.The student-centred event, which will be held from 4.45pm, allowsvisitors to learn more about student life and academic programmes fromalumni and current students. They can sample one of GU-Q’s four majorsby attending classes and ask questions about student clubs, studyingabroad, and life beyond the classroom. “At ‘A Day in the Life of a Georgetown Student’, we offer a first-handexperience of what it’s really like to study at Georgetown,” saidadmissions officer Mariam Lachin (SFS ‘15), one of the organisers of theevent. “You can go to class, meet the professors and students you’llsee on a daily basis, and hear how our graduates have used theirGeorgetown degrees to make a difference in the world.”As the event takes place ahead of GU-Q’s February1 application deadline,there will also be a question and answers session for interestedstudents to find out more about the process of applying to study at theuniversity. GU-Q offers a unique inter-disciplinary Bachelor of Science in ForeignService degree, using the same internationally-ranked curriculum asGeorgetown’s main campus in Washington, DC. Students can major in Culture and Politics, International Economics,International History, or International Politics, and complement theireducation with a minor in Arabic or certificates in Arab and RegionalStudies, American Studies, or Media and Politics.
