The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced it will carry out a minor traffic change under Al Mazrooah Interchange, on the North Road carriageway, from Friday for a period of six months.

The shift will enable the construction of a multi-level interchange on the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project, the authority has said in a statement.During the detour, designed in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, road users travelling south from Al Shamal towards Doha will be shifted onto the northbound carriageway for 1km before returning to the normal road alignment (as shown on the attached map).Ashghal has said the number of lanes in each direction on Al Shamal Road will be reduced from four lanes to three for a 1km section. The new multi-level interchange will be opened for public use this year and increase the existing road capacity from three lanes to five in each direction while simultaneously enhancing travel efficiency to Al Shamal, Al Ruwais, Lusail and Salwa Road, the statement notes. Ashghal will install road signs providing motorists with advance notice of the new road layout. It has requested road users to abide by the new speed limit, 80km/h, and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
