QU college wins top honours in national and global events

CPH students receive an award at the 6th International Pharmaceutical Conference.
Threefaculty members and seven students from Qatar University College ofPharmacy (QU-CPH) achieved a number of wins for their research projectspresented at national and international events.CPH assistantprofessor Dr Hazem Elewa and MSc student Loolia Badr won the Best PosterAward at the “Annual Research Day” recently organised by Hamad MedicalCorp (HMC) Medical Research Centre, for his project titled, “The effectof genetic and non-genetic factors on warfarin dose variability in QatarPopulation”. Postgraduate pharmacy students, Farah Zahrah, SaraAbdulrahim and Nour Isleem won the Best Student Poster Award at the 4thQatar International Pharmacy Conference.Titled, “Physicalcomorbidities and their management in patients with severe mentalillness”, the poster was supervised by CPH assistant professor ofpharmacy Dr Monica Zolezzi. Additionally, QU CPH fourth year pharmacystudent Ola Hussein, Licia Shamoun and Dima Kawas won the 2nd BestPoster Award at the 6th International Pharmaceutical Conference ZTIPC2017 organised by Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan Faculty of Pharmacyand University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciencesunder the theme, “New Horizons in Pharmaceutical Research”. Theresearch, “Discovery of Novel Plant Derived Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitorsas Potential Neuroprotective Agents” was conducted under thesupervision of CPH associate professor of medicinal chemistry Dr AshrafKhalil.CPH Dean Dr Mohamed Diab said, “The participation of ourfaculty and students in these conferences give them the opportunity todemonstrate their abilities and knowledge in line with the CPH vision toadvance healthcare in Qatar and beyond.”
