Qatar sailing team to participate in Laser Europa Cup 2017

The 2017 Laser Europa Cup will begin today in Croatia.
The Qatari sailing team arrived in Croatia to participate in the 2017Laser Europa Cup, which will begin from today. Qatar will be representedby Waleed al-Sharshani, Hassan al-Tamimi, Faris al-Bakri, Ali Muftahand Abdulrhaman al-Nasr. The event will bring together a huge number ofthe best sailors in the world.SOP organising committee holds technical meetThe organising committee of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) held atechnical meeting on Tuesday with the directors of the competitions. Themeeting focused lights on the latest arrangements for the finals of theSOP competitions.Abdulrahman al-Muftah, Executive Director of the Qatar School SportAssociation (QSSA), Dr Salah Salem, the QSSA Technical Expert and thedirectors of the competitions attended the meeting. An estimated 400schools of both boys and girls  are competing in 11 SOP events includingfootball, handball, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming,athletics, table tennis, fencing, tennis and shooting  in the SchoolsOlympic Program this year. The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of the QSSA andMinistry of Education and Higher Education, with hundreds of studentathletes competing from all over Qatar. The SOP committee aims to spreada culture of sports throughout Qatar’s schools and to engage the entirecommunity in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local valuesand traditions.Qatar Beach Volleyball team trains in SloveniaQatar’s beach volleyball team of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan aretraining in Slovenia’s Ljubljana to prepare for the upcomingtournaments. During the ten-day camp, Younousse and Tijan will play manyfriendly matches as well as take part in joint training session withSlovenian counterparts. Qatar’s beach volleyball team will participate in the 4-starinternational championship, which will be held in the Netherlands fromJanuary 3 to 7.
