Emir attends Camel Festival

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday attendedthe seventh day’s competition of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamedbin Thani’s Camel Festival at Al Sheehaniya Racetrack. The event wasattended by several sheikhs, tribesmen and a large number of camel racelovers. Camel race organising committee Chairman HE Sheikh Hamad binJassim bin Faisal al-Thani said that the presence of His Highness theEmir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the Founder Sheikh Jassim binMohamed bin Thani’s Camel Festival is an honour for all participants.Speaking after recognising the winners, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim binFaisal al-Thani said that the presence of the Emir motivated theorganisers of the festival, notably the camel race committee, tomaximise their efforts to stage the competition in the best possiblefashion. It also motivated owners and participants to compete and offertheir best performance, reflecting the attention paid by the leadership to the major Gulf heritage sport.
