Nepali expatriates participated in a Friendship Parade at Darb Al Saai to show their solidarity with Qatar on the occasion of the National Day. The Friendship Parade also marked 40 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Nepali participants were spotted carrying Qatari flag in one hand and Nepali flag in the other. The participants chanted “Qatar is our second home” as they marched. Entrepreneur and Non Resident Nepalese gulf co-ordinator RK Sharma said, “The National Day celebration is important to the Nepali community as they are in a staggering number here. We feel safe, secure and continue to enjoy working here in Qatar. This would not have been possible without the bold and courageous leadership of the country.” Nanu Nepal, a participant in the parade, said her participation in the parade reflected her love for the country. Another participant, Rajan Sapkota – president of Bibkesil Common Society – said, “We thank Qatar for providing secure and rewarding jobs to our Nepali brothers and sisters who support their families and the country. We will be always on the side of Qatar.”– Text and photo by Usha Wagle Gautam
