Embassies, consulates celebrate National Day

Qatar’sembassies and diplomatic missions marked National Day, which iscelebrated on December 18 of every year, in commemoration of the state’sfounder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, under the theme ‘Promiseof Prosperity and Glory’.Their Excellencies, Heads of Diplomatic,Consular and Representative Missions of the State of Qatar abroad,extended greetings and congratulations to His Highness the Emir SheikhTamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad binKhalifa al-Thani, and the Qatari people, wishing the State of Qatarfurther progress and prosperity.The Qatari diplomatic celebrationsin the capitals and cities of the world were attended by high levelofficials that reflects Qatar’s distinguished relations with thecountries of the world.In Berlin, Qatar’s ambassador to GermanySheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani hosted a reception on the occasionof Qatar National Day.The function was attended by more than 400senior representatives of official political, parliamentary, diplomaticand economic institutions as well as a number of heads of diplomaticmissions and Qatari nationals in Germany.In his speech during theceremony, Qatar’s ambassador underlined the importance of thecommemoration of the founding of the State of Qatar by the founderSheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.The celebration of National Dayis a celebration of achievements, under the wise leadership of HisHighness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, he added.HE theambassador praised the strong and strategic relations between Qatar andGermany and appreciated events held for Qatari-German Cultural Year2017.A group of Qatari children presented traditional performance at the National Day ceremony.Inthe Qatari Embassy in Muscat, Qatar’s ambassador to the Sultanate ofOman Ali bin Fahad al-Hajri hosted a reception on the occasion of QatarNational Day.The ceremony was attended by Shihab bin Tariq al-Said,adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, as the guest of honour, in additionto a number of Their Highnesses, Excellencies the Ministers, Deputies,State Council and Shura Council members, senior officials of theSultan’s armed forces, a number of officials of the Omani ForeignMinistry, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate ofOman, businessmen and media professionals and a number of Qataristudents studying in Oman.In the Netherlands, Qatar’s ambassador tothe Kingdom of the Netherlands Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed al-Thani held areception on the occasion of Qatar National Day at The Hague.Theceremony was attended by the Netherlands Foreign Ministry’s Director ofProtocol and Deputy Director of the Middle East and North AfricaDepartment along with the Mayor of Wassenaar and a large number of headsof diplomatic missions, officials of international organisations,businessmen, the media and representatives of the Arab community in theNetherlands.The ambassador stressed the importance of promoting anddeveloping bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and theKingdom of the Netherlands for the good of both friendly peoples.Hethanked the participants in the celebration of Qatar National Day andhoped that peace, security and prosperity will prevail throughout theworld.Qatar’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain Mohammed Jahamal-Kuwari held in Madrid, a reception on the occasion of Qatar NationalDay. The function was attended by a number of senior officials as wellas representatives of the palace, government and various parties andheads of missions.During the ceremony, the ambassador stressed theimportance of Qatari-Spanish relations and touched on the Gulf crisis,stressing that Qatar is open to dialogue.For his part, Chairman ofthe Justice Commission of the Kingdom of Spain Manuel Girimo Taba,praised the development of relations between the two countries and therole of Qatar at the regional and international levels.In Belgium,ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head ofthe State of Qatar Delegation to the European Union and Nato Abdulrahmanbin Mohammed al-Khulaifi held a reception on the occasion of theNational Day of the State of Qatar.The ambassador stressed thatNational Day is gaining special momentum this year with the siege ofQatar. “Since the month of June, the State of Qatar has achieved manymajor successes at the national and international levels,” theambassador said.In Canada, Qatar’s ambassador Fahad Mohammed YusufKafoud, hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of theState of Qatar.The Embassy organised a Photo Exhibition reflectingthe progress and the cultural and urban renaissance witnessed by theState of Qatar. A series of films showing aspects of the state’snational celebrations were also screened.Ambassador of the State ofQatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Mohammed bin Arar al-Nuaimi held areception on the occasion of Qatar National Day in Bishkek. The ceremonywas attended by the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the KyrgyzRepublic Nurlan Abdrakhmanov, a number of government officials,representatives of diplomatic missions, the media and guests.TheDeputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic congratulated the Stateof Qatar on its national day, pointing to his country’s interest inenhancing bilateral co-operation with Qatar.The Ambassador said thatQatar appreciates the positive role of the international community insupporting the Qatari position, which calls for resolving the crisis ofQatar’s siege through dialogue and discussing controversial issueswithout compromising the sovereignty of countries or interfering intheir internal affairs.In Hong Kong, Sultan bin Ali al-Khater, theConsul General of the State of Qatar to the Hong Kong SpecialAdministrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, held areception on the occasion of Qatar National Day. The Guest of Honour,representing the government at the ceremony was the Financial Secretaryof Hong Kong Paul Chan.The function was also attended by DeputyCommissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong KongSong Ru’an, the Director of the Protocol Department of the Hong KongGovernment Judy Li and a number of officials, diplomats and guests.During their address, the Minister of Finance and Consul of Qatarunderlined the deep bilateral relations and strong trade ties betweenthe State of Qatar and the Hong Kong Region.
