HESheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, vice chairperson and chief executiveofficer of Qatar Foundation (QF), and HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamadal-Thani, chairman of Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA), joined more than1,500 students, parents, educators from Pre-University Education (PUE),and QF senior officials at a colourful celebration yesterday,commemorating Qatar National Day.Also in attendance were engineerSaad Ibrahim al-Muhannadi, lifetime member of the board of directors,QF, and Buthaina A al-Nuaimi, president of PUE, QF.The celebration,which took place at the Qatar National Convention Centre, included aspecially produced National Day operetta featuring the voices andtalents of over 500 students, as well as a variety of local heritageactivities.The PUE celebration included students from across QatarAcademy schools, Awsaj Academy, and QLA, and provided participants withthe opportunity to express their feelings about Qatar and what NationalDay means to them. Additionally, by incorporating traditional songs intothe event, it served as a chance for the audience to reminisce.Al-Nuaimisaid: “Today’s performances, organised as part of our Qatar NationalDay celebrations, give our youngest citizens the opportunity tocelebrate local traditions, values, and culture. The event also servesas a platform for our students to show their love for this great andwonderful country. “Additionally, this event highlights QatarFoundation’s commitment to fostering a generation of youth grounded inculture and values.”The PUE National Day celebration highlighted thediverse talents within Education City and QF’s schools, and wasdesigned to demonstrate the bonds that strengthen the wider communityand how they support Qatar through preserving the country’s culture andheritage.This national project was developed and organised by thePUE National Day Event Committee, which was led by the PUEcommunications team, and included teachers and staff from all QFschools, in addition to staff from the history department at QF’sEducation Development Institute. The event was sponsored by Ooredoo, AlRayyan Satellite Channel, Fahad Signature, and La Photo Studio.Waleedal-Sayed, chief executive officer of Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoobelieves in the power of communication to provide everyone with anopportunity to show their pride in our country, and the Pre-UniversityEducation’s schools’ operetta was a great example of this.” Sabahal-Kuwari, general manager of Al Rayyan Satellite Channel, said: “Thiscollaboration is in line with Al Rayyan’s social responsibility to servethe country’s National Vision and enhance co-operation betweendifferent entities.”
