2022 World Cup very important for Asia, says FIFA boss Infantino

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said that the 2022 FIFA World Cup,which will be held in Qatar after five years, will be a very importantevent for the Asian continent.This came on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the mini-stadiumproject of the Thai Football Association, which was inaugurated in theThai capital Bangkok, in the presence of the President of the AsianFootball Association Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifah and membersof the executive committee of the Asian body.The stadiums were created with funding from the AFC President’sInitiatives Program and the launch of the new stadiums was held at theCenter of Excellence of the Thai Federation at Bangkok ThonburiUniversity.“The Asian continent is very important for the FIFA, especially afterthe continent has presented impressive examples both at theorganisational level and at the results level,” said Infantino.“The provision of appropriate facilities is essential for thedevelopment of football,” The FIFA President said. “We are confidentthat these stadiums will have a significant impact on the development offootball in Thailand.”
