Qatar Charity board reviews performance

The board of directors of Qatar Charity (QC) has held its periodic meeting under the presidency of Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani, chairman of the board.The meeting sought to evaluate performance of the charity until the end of the third quarter of this year and come up with necessary recommendations, QC said in a press statement yesterday. The meeting reviewed a report on QC’s performance and achievements at the administrative and financial levels, resources, local achievements and international partnerships. It also assessed performance indicators of all executive departments of Qatar Charity, and the development plans expected to be implemented in the upcoming plan.The board of directors also reviewed the financial statements of QC up to the end of the third quarter of this year, comparing them with previous years’ results for the same period. All financial statements were reviewed against the approved budgets, and an analytical statement of the variables in the approved budget and achievements until the end of the third quarter was issued. Further, the board took stock of latest updates on QC’s activities and developments related to the projects and sponsorships referred to it by other charitable institutions and the procedures required for their accommodation and follow-up.The board praised Qatar Charity for its steady growth at all levels, both domestically and internationally and at the organisational level, as well as for the institutional structure and managerial development, the statement noted.All these helped the charity co-operate “permanently and uniquely” with government bodies, the Regularity Authority for Charitable Activities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, donors as well as local and international partners, it was observed. The board stressed the need for promoting QC’s future strategic plan, which is based on its vision to continue its growth, and enhance the size and quality of the implemented programmes and projects. Meanwhile, the board issued directives for more partnerships and agreements, with international and regional organisations, which would strengthen QC’s international philanthropic status.The board reviewed and commended the plan for the governance and risk management system presented to it by the senior executive management. It also underscored the importance of adopting the highest standards of internal auditing. A committee was formed to follow up on this issue.Members of the QC board of directors include Sheikh Hamad, Ahmed Abdullah Ghorab al-Marri, HE Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi, HE Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, Faisal Abdullah Zaid al-Mahmoud, Mohamed Abdullatif al-Mana, Mohamed Nasser al-Fuhaid al-Hajri, Abdulrahman Abduljalil al-Abdulghani and Sheikh Mohamed Hassan al-Muraikhi. The meeting was also attended by Yousef Ahmed al-Kuwari, CEO of QC.The Qatar Charity board members at the meeting.
