Katara first govt institute to receive ISO certificate

Katara – the Cultural Village has become the first governmental institute in Qatar to get an ISO certificate in information technology (IT) services issued by the British institute Intertek. “This certificate comes to reaffirm Katara’s leadership in implementing the latest methods, best practices and world-class standards that suit and serve its audiences and employees in accordance to the Qatar National Vision 2030,” said general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.Katara’s IT department director Thamer al-Qadi, Intertek general manager Sudheer Kesapragada, and British ambassador Ajay Sharma were present.Katara obtained the ISO 27001 certificate for achieving international standards in information security management, and ISO 9001 certificate in the cultural affairs management.Al-Qadi stressed that Katara is the first governmental institute to receive the globally-recognised certificate ISO 20000. “The service management certificate that Katara recently attained by Intertek showcases Katara’s eagerness to constantly improve the services provided to employees, audiences, operators, and other external institutes, which ideally matches the international standards of service management system,” he explained.The ISO 20000 is a service management system (SMS) standard. It specifies requirements for the service provider to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve an SMS. The requirements include the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services to fulfil agreed service requirements.The history of Intertek goes back over 130 years, and evolves from the combined growth of a number of innovative companies.
