India firms eye opportunities in Qatar food sector

Indian ambassador to Qatar P Kumaran receives a memento from Qatar Chamber board member and honorary treasurer, Ali bin Abdul-Latif al-Misnad yesterday. The Qatar Chamber held a meeting with a delegation of business owners from India to discuss joint investment opportunities in the food, information technology, services and other sectors, QNA reported. During the meeting,  al-Misnad valued trade between the two countries at about $8.5bn in 2016. India is considered the third largest destination for Qatari exports after Japan and South Korea. Qatar, in turn, is the 10th largest importer of Indian goods. Al-Misnad highlighted the presence of a large number of Indian companies operating in Qatar, 26 of them faring with 100% Indian capital, while Qatar has made major investments in India.
