8 killed, many hurt in NY 'terror' attack

Several people are dead and numerous people are injured after a vehicle drove onto a  bike path and then hit another car in Manhattan yesterday afternoon, the New York Police Department said.A driver struck multiple people on the bike path and continued driving before crashing into another vehicle .The driver then got out of the vehicle holding imitation firearms and was shot at by the New York police, the NYPD wrote on Twitter.According to local media, at least eight people were killed in the incident.Two nearby schools are reportedly on lockdown, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was on his way to the scene.Police said they had one person in custody and that there were no «outstanding» suspects but the investigation is ongoing.
