Education Above All foundation organised, through its Reach Out to Asia (Rota) programme, a workshop in collaboration with the International Network for Education and Resources (iEARN) for school teachers at Qatar University. The two-day workshop trained teachers on project based learning methodologies and prepared them to launch an iEARN project aimed at improving the health and well-being of the population.iEARN-Qatar, which includes a global network of teachers and students, offers a collaborative platform that helps schools find solutions to global issues, contributes to awareness of sustainable development goals and provides professional development for teachers, which in turn improves student learning outcomes. Project-based learning helps students acquire critical thinking skills and increase awareness of different cultures, making learning an enjoyable and exciting experience at the same time. The programme also provides teachers with the opportunity to join the Rota knowledge network, helping them to build a webpage on the project and integrate project-based learning into their lessons.Since the launch of the programme in 2008, more than 700 teachers from 100 schools have taken part in iEarn-Qatar workshops, as well as many of the programme’s projects with their students.iEARN is the world’s largest non-profit network that enables teachers and young people to use the Internet and other technologies to collaborate on projects that promote active learning and make a positive difference in the world. The global education network is made up of over 50,000 teachers and 2 million students in more than 140 countries. (QNA)
