Buoyed Baahubali star Prabhas tests Karan’s patience

After the stupendous success of Baahubali, Prabhas is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in India.  His next movie Saaho is therefore being released as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.Bollywood would naturally be the actor’s ambition given that it gives him a national scale instead of being just a south India star. Baahubali should have placed him perfectly to make his presence felt in Hindi. Hindi filmmakers also wooed him. There was Karan Johar who was mulling over a project that would launch Prabhas in Bollywood. But now comes news that it might not happen and the reason is, ironically, the fallout of Baahubali’s success. Apparently, buoyed by it, Prabhas had quoted a sum of Rs20 crore as his fee to do the movie. While that might be par for the course for Bollywood superstars, Karan felt the sum was too much for someone who really has no base among Hindi fans. He therefore decided against the project. Karan also made a tweet which said, ‘Dear Ambition...if you have to achieve your full potential stay away from your arch nemesis....Comparison!’.This is being speculated as a dig against Prabhas. While it might have been unnecessary to make such a snide public comment, there is merit in the logic of not risking Rs20 crore on an untested star. Baahubali worked because it was a grand spectacle in which Prabhas played his part. A movie need not necessarily make waves just because it has him.
