Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners is organising a legal forum titled ‘Force Majeure and the Gulf crisis’ in collaboration with Thani bin Ali al-Thani Law Firm, Ola Management Consultant, Qatar University, and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel, Doha. The event will be held at 10.30am. The legal principle of force majeure refers to unforeseeable circumstances that prevent a party to a contract from fulfilling their contractual obligations. The legal forum will be moderated by Sheikh Dr Thani bin Ali bin Saud al-Thani with expert speakers from Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Ola Management Consultancy, and Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners presenting.The experts will discuss the academic perspectives and case precedents related to the principle of force majeure and its application in FIDIC contracts and international law.Central lab conducts 2,626 tests on different samplesThe Central Laboratory Department of Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology conducted in the third quarter of this year 2,626 tests on 1,936 samples of building materials, electrical appliances, oil pumps, scales, thermometers and other materials.The department said in a report yesterday that the gold samples which were examined and stamped weighed 2.06 tonnes, and those of silver were 0.244 tonnes. The department underlined that the examination of gold and silver samples affirms the supervisory role that it performs in the process of checking, stamping and analysing these types of metals and precious stones and their conformity with technical specifications in accordance with the applicable regulations.Community house at Indian embassy on ThursdayThe Indian embassy will hold its monthly community house on Thursday (October 26) at the embassy premises, from 3pm to 4pm, it was announced yesterday. The session will address urgent consular and labour issues and requirements of its nationals, a statement from the embassy added.
