Qatar-manufactured sportswear ‘by 2018’

Qataris set to start producing sportswear in the country by 2018,Doha-resident Harish Chandra Bhandari told Qatar Urdu Radio’s live showHaqeeqat yesterday.“The raw material has been imported and theproduction of goods will start in 2018. This will include all kinds ofsportswear such as jerseys, socks and innerwear,” Bhandari, who is acivil engineer by profession, said.“The target is to supply thesegoods in the Middle East and European countries. But it also shows youhow Qatar will be self-sufficient in multiple sports related sectorsbefore the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he added.Haqeeqat, which aims toengage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community inQatar, is a joint venture of Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corporation UrduRadio.It is broadcast from Sunday to Thursday on FM107.
