Uzbek football president visits Aspire Academy

ThePresident of Uzbekistan Football Federation (UFF), Umid Ahmadjonov,visited Aspire Academy yesterday morning with a delegation includingUFF’s Secretary-General Sardor Rakhmatullaev. The delegation waswelcomed by senior officials from Aspire Academy, including DirectorGeneral, Ivan Bravo, and Deputy Director General, Ali Salem Afifa. Aspart of their visit, the UFF delegation received a tour of AspireAcademy, met with a variety of Academy staff and were shown theAcademy’s state-of-the-art facilities. The tour was designed toillustrate how the Academy’s facilities, mission and vision helpsidentify talented young athletes in Qatar and beyond with real potentialand transform them into world-renowned champions who can representQatar in national teams across a wide range of sports, as well aspromote a sports culture in Qatar and the region.Following theirtour Bravo, discussed areas of potential collaboration with the UFFofficials with focus on developing best football practices. At the endof their visit, the Academy’s Director General and the UFF’s Presidentexchanged commemorative shields. Commenting on his visit to theAcademy, Ahmadjonov, said: “It was a pleasure to visit such a greatsporting academy. I must congratulate the people of Qatar for havingsuch a fabulous institution that promotes such amazing values and doesso much for aspirational athletes. I am pretty sure that the country’ssporting future is in safe hands and that Qatar will have a highlycompetitive national football team in time for the 2022 FIFA World Cuphere in Doha based on the vision of this great academy.”Ahmadjonovwas elected in September to the leadership of the UFF. He is also theVice President of Uzbekistan National Olympic and Paralympic Committeeand the former Vice-President of Pakhtakor Tashkent Football Club.
