Egypt rights body urged to resolve Qataris' issues

Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri held bilateral meetings with the president of the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt Mohamed Faeq, Chairperson of the Algerian National Human Rights Council Fava Zerrougui, and Chairman of the Omani Human Rights Committee Abdullah bin Shuwain al Hosani on the sidelines of the General Assembly Meeting of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI).

Dr Al-Marri discussed with the heads of these three bodies ways of co-operation and called for the exchange of experiences and expertise in all human rights issues.Dr al-Marri discussed with Faeq the issues of Qatari students studying in Egypt and Qatari citizens who own properties in Egypt, who have been affected by the siege and their inability to check on their property in Egypt. He called for the need for speedy action by the National Council of the Arab Republic of Egypt to find urgent solutions to these outstanding issues. Faeq expressed his willingness to resolve the issues of students and owners of Qatari property.Dr al-Marri also congratulated Fava on her assumption of the presidency of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions at its new session. During his meeting with al-Hosani, al-Marri stressed the importance of enhancing GCC-GCC co-operation in the field of human rights and activating joint activities between the Qatari and Omani committees.
