PHCC team attends Liverpool conference

A delegation from the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), led by managing director Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, attended the annual primary care conference hosted by the Royal College of General Practitioners in Liverpool.The theme of the conference, which took place from October 12 to 14, was Forward Together: How we lead primary care to the next level.The annual conference discussed the most prominent scientific developments in primary care, with more than 46 panel discussions and lectures focusing on topics including national health strategies, diabetes, cancer, mental health, the importance of physical activities in changing lifestyle and its impact on disease prevention and health promotion.In addition, it presented the latest developments in the field of health technology, as well as the development of workforce, ongoing education and scientific research.The Qatar delegation attendance was in relation to the third Primary Care Conference, which will take place from November 17 to 19.Hosted by the PHCC, the international conference will be held in Doha under the patronage of HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari.During the visit by the Qatar delegation, a meeting was held between the Dr Abdul Malik and Terry Kemple, who is the head of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the director of international projects at the college.The meeting discussed existing co-operation between the two organisations as well the developments in primary care.
