Qatar Museums’ Honorary Ambassador programme to connect long-term residents

HCAs are expected to meet with distinguished VIP guests and accompany them on tours of cultural sites.
Qatar Museums (QM) has unveiled plans for a community ambassadorprogramme designed to engage long-term Qatar residents to becomeHonorary Cultural Ambassadors (HCA). In recognition of the vibrant and diverse community that makes up Qatar,QM is looking for individuals who have embraced all that Qatar has tooffer and are looking to share their passion with others. The programme will gather a group of individuals who have demonstrated keen interest in Qatar’s cultural offering. HCAs will have the honour of meeting with distinguished VIP guests andaccompanying them on tours of cultural sites, as well as offering theirown views and interpretations of Qatar to allow the guests to fullyexperience and enjoy Qatar’s cultural and historical highlights.“Qatar is well known for its hospitality and we pride ourselves on beingopen and welcoming of all visitors. We have such a diverse community,speaking more than 80 languages and hailing from every part of theworld,” QM’s strategy and quality assurance director Somaya al-Tamimisaid in a statement.“We are thankful and proud of that diversity and want to share it withthe world through this unique Honorary Cultural Ambassador programme,which will help show the many sides of our country to the world,”al-Tamimi added.Following an application and review process, HCAs will take part in acomprehensive training during which they will attend a series oflectures on art, heritage, culture and history of Qatar. This will be led by knowledgeable field experts and complemented by tours to some of Qatar’s most unique destinations. In order to complete the programme and earn the HCA designation,participants will need to take part in two afternoon lectures and twofull-day VIP tours to QM museums, exhibitions, heritage sites and othersites of interest.Criteria for qualification include more than five years residency inQatar; proficiency in English (Arabic is a preference); fluent in atleast one more language; interested in and knowledgeable about art,heritage, culture, and history of Qatar; availability and commitment toaccompany VIP guests upon request; availability and commitment to attendthe Honorary Cultural Ambassador training programme; preferably abachelor degree holder; and outgoing and sociable.
