Qatar Shell and QFA host clinic ahead of Koora Time season six
TheQatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Shell organised a three-daycoaching clinic in preparation for the launch of the sixth season of‘Koora Time’, an extra-curricular football programme targeted at boysand girls ages 7-18 years.Koora Time is based on FC BarcelonaFoundation’s FutbolNet methodology and provides children with an extra72 hours of extra-curricular physical education per year.The seminarfocused on five teaching modules that address healthy living throughfootball. Over 90 local coaches from the QFA and Qatar Women’s SportsCommittee, including Qatari men and women, attended the seminar.KooraTime is an award winning initiative developed by Qatar Shell inpartnership with Qatar Football Association. The initiative is designedto improve the health and well-being of young people in Qatar throughfootball. Since its launch in March 2013, the programme has benefitedover 17,500 children across Qatar.  Last year’s programme saw asignificant reduction in Body Mass Index (BMI) by 80% of participants.BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight.Inrecognition for its positive impact on the health of youth, Koora Timehas been the recipient of numerous awards including the 2014 & 2016‘Sports Industry Award’ for Best CSR Initiative, the 2015 ‘CSR AwardQatar’ for Best CSR Impact Initiative, the 2014 ‘Dar Al Sharq CorporateSocial Responsibility Award’ for the Best Sports Initiative, the ‘2014and 2016 & 2017 AFC Dream of Asia Award’ in the area of socialresponsibility and the 2017 ‘QFA Awards’ for Best CSR Programme.
