HEthe Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahmanal-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilisations,said that the past year has seen recognised efforts made by thecommittee through its active participation in various activities relatedto the Alliance of Civilisations at the regional and internationallevels.Presenting the 7th annual report of Qatar Committee forAlliance of Civilisations for 2016, Sheikh Mohammed said that last yearwitnessed intensive communication, co-ordination and co-operation withthe institutions concerned with the Alliance of Civilisations within andoutside the State of Qatar, whether through the participation ininternational forums, conferences and meetings, or through theco-operation with international and regional organisations in thedevelopment of strategies and plans for the Alliance of Civilisations.Inthe past year, the third year in the implementation of Qatar’s plan forthe Alliance of Civilisations (2014-2016), the committee hasimplemented a series of programmes and activities aimed at introducingthe concept and the emergence of the Alliance of Civilisations and itsobjectives, and enhancing Qatar’s distinguished presence in this field,in line with its vital role as one of the main countries supporting theactivities of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations.Theannual report included the activities of the committee during the year2016, as well as its definition, principles and objectives. The reportalso explained Qatar’s Plan of the Alliance of Civilisations for theperiod 2014-2016, which was prepared in accordance with Qatar NationalVision 2030, the first National Development Strategy 2011-2015, thepermanent Constitution of the State and the Organization of IslamicCo-operation Plan for the Alliance of Civilisations.The report shedlight on the committee’s most important participations in events held atthe international and regional levels, including meetings, conferencesand forums related to the Alliance of Civilisations. The report alsoincluded the most important events organised by the committee, namelythe international fellowship programme of the Alliance as well as thespecial meetings of representatives of governmental and non-governmentalbodies concerned with the implementation of Qatar’s Plan of theAlliance of Civilisations.The report concluded with a presentationof the committee’s efforts in the field of in media awareness of thecontents of the Alliance of Civilisations, whether through its websiteor through field visits to educational, cultural and youth institutionsin the country, or participating in exhibitions accompanying localevents and conferences.
