QREC celebrates Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Souq Waqif

Asracing action heated up in Chantilly, France, for the Qatar Prix del’Arc de Triomphe this past weekend, the Qatar Racing and EquestrianClub (QREC) organised some family entertainment at Souq Waqif onSaturday and Sunday.Families were able to enjoy pony rides, facepainting and a photo booth to capture their memories of the day whileenjoying the races live on the screens.One of the biggest racingevents in the world, it is being sponsored by Qatar since 2008. Theweekend boasts a prestigious two-day racing programme with no fewer than15 flat races, nine of which have Group 1 status, the highest categoryof horse race.The past weekend was also an opportunity to watchPurebred Arabians in action; these elegant horses contested in the QatarArabian World Cup, the second leg of the Doha Triple Crown.In itsprevious editions, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe has witnessedmajor Qatari achievements, chief among them Al Shaqab Racing’s Treve,who won the prestigious feature for two straight years — 2013 and 2014.Theevent at Souq Waqif simulated the atmosphere of the racecourse inChantilly and the audience enjoyed the live broadcast of the races onthe screen, as well as all the other fun activities.“Qatar Prix del’Arc de Triomphe is an integral part of our proud commitment topromoting Qatar as a world class hub for horse racing and a leader inthe pure Arabian breed.
