Qatar Airways and Rolls-Royce, one of the airline’s major strategicpartners, hosted a training programme yesterday as part of the airline’sAl Darb Qatarisation programme, an initiative that develops youngtalent to become the future leaders of the national carrier.During the interactive workshop, which took place at Oryx Rotana Doha,the group explored various engineering activities that take place ataero-engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce and looked at how the company’slatest engine technologies are generating maximum value and loweroperating costs.The workshop delivered by Rolls-Royce professionals was attended bynational employees as well as a wider group of pilots, engineers,graduate developees and their coaches. The session also looked ahead at the opportunities for the futuredevelopment of engine technology, including the availability of newmaterials, digital technologies, data and analytics.Qatar Airways senior vice-president - Human Resources Nabeela Fakhrisaid: “We are delighted with our ongoing strong strategic partnershipwith Rolls-Royce. It was particularlyimportant to host this event in Doha, which enabled us to engage with awide audience of graduates and share with them the insights from one ofour leading engineers.”Now in its fifth year, the Al Darb Qatarisation programme presents youngnationals with local and international career opportunities througheight different programmes and 35 different majors across the airline’svarious departments. The tailor-made programme supports, develops and nurtures young talentand equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed intheir field of choice in the airline.An Arabic word that means ‘The Pathway’, Al Darb highlights thedifferent career paths that individuals can take with Qatar Airways. Through initiatives such as its Summer Internship programme and GraduateDevelopee programme, Al Darb provides graduates with real-life projectsin numerous locations across the globe that add to their workexperience and prepares them for a successful career at Qatar Airways.
