Qatar bowling team cap Ashgabat 2017 with silver medal

Qatar bowling team snapped up a silver medal on the final day of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, yesterday in the men’s Team of Four event.Qatar had shocked favourites Korea in the semis for a spot in yesterday’s finale. However, yesterday, Chinese Taipei took advantage of Qatar’s errors to take the coveted men’s Team of Four title, its first at an Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.In an impressive performances by Qatar athletes, Anchor bowler Wu Hao-Ming led the charge in the 846-744 victory with seven strikes in a row for a 256.Tsai Ying-Hao said the team got charged up watching the Chinese Taipei women win their bronze medal in the Team of Four on Tuesday.“The women helped to motivate us,” said Tsai, who was competing at his first international Games. “Their performance made us believe that we could do it as well.”Qatar struggled during the final yesterday.However, Ghanim Mohamed Aboujassoum was upbeat about the team’s overall performance. “A silver is a lot for us,” said Aboujassoum, whose team won Qatar’s first medal since Macau 2007.“We have been preparing for months. We were focusing on this tournament to get at least one medal and we have reached our goal.“It (the match) was not so tough, we were out of check a little bit. So, because of that we didn’t score. I think we learned from that situation for the next tournament.”Talking about the lane conditions, he said, “A short oil pattern after a long affects things.
