190 food inspections held in Al Wakrah

Al Wakrah Municipality’s Health Control Section conducted 190 inspection tours last month on the shops and food facilities within its jurisdiction to ensure food safety.The inspection campaign resulted in issuing 15 violations of law no 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control. Out of these, 13 were resolved in reconciliation with the violators after paying the set fines, with the total fines collected amounting to QR97,500. Meanwhile, the remaining two violations were referred to the security department concerned to take the necessary procedures.Besides, 110kg of foodstuff were destroyed during the campaign for being unfit for human consumption. In addition, 12 samples from different food products were sent to the central laboratory to check their validity and safety on human health. In the meantime, the section received eight related complaints, which were addressed immediately. The section got some shop owners to sign six affidavits to remove their violations soon. The veterinarian of the section destroyed a quantity of fish after checking them at Al Wakrah Fish Market for being unfit for human consumption. Al Daayan Municipality’s Cleaning Section removed nine abandoned vehicles at various areas under its jurisdiction during August. The section also executed 174 campaigns to fight insects and rodents, in addition to handling 1,050 application for sanitary sewage.
