Qatar to attend falconry event in Kyrgyz Republic

Qatar, represented by the Qatari Society of Al Gannas, will participate in the annual meeting of the International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey (IAF) in the Kyrgyz Republic from September 2 to 10.Ali bin Khatem al-Mehshadi, chairman of Al Gannas and head of the Qatari delegation to the international conference, said the Society will brief international delegations on its most important pilot projects, as well as the problem of electric shock and the role of Qatari falconers in reducing it within the country.Al-Mehshadi said the Society sent a memo to the Ministry of Municipalities and Environment and the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corp (Kahramaa) to protect migratory falcons against high tension wires.The Society is also in the process of establishing a hospital that contributes to the reduction of diseases and the treatment of infected birds.The chairman of the Society said the meeting will be an opportunity to invite the participants to attend Qatar’s Third International Falcons Veterinary Conference in 2018, as well as to invite them to attend Katara International Falcon and Hunting Exhibition which will be held for the first time in Qatar from September 20 to 24.
