Mwani Qatar’s IMS receives ISO certification

Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) has announced that its Integrated Management System (IMS) was awarded with internationally-acclaimed certifications after passing an external audit conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).By effectively integrating three previously-certified systems under one integrated platform, Mwani Qatar’s IMS achieved ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management System, and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health and Safety Management System.  The certification was presented to the Mwani Qatar chief support services officer Mohamed al-Maadeed during a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters on Tuesday.Al-Maadeed said: “These certificates are an endorsement of Mwani Qatar’s quality management approach and its commitment to the highest standards and world-class best practices aimed at enhancing quality of the services provided.”The IMS is a combination of three international standards – ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. “In the run up to the certification, Mwani Qatar has been subjected to a stringent assessment, which confirmed the commitment of all the standards required for each certification.“The company’s IMS achieved the desired objectives in a short period thanks to the efforts of the teams and internal expertise. Mwani Qatar will continue its efforts and work hardly to maintain its leadership position,” al-Maadeed noted. He said the implementation of this integrated approach will improve customer services and meet their needs better. It will also help achieve the institutional excellence of services and developing internal capabilities and competencies in accordance with the planned development strategy under the directives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, he said.The IMS certificate was awarded by LRQA and supported by COMS Vantage Consulting.
