Minister, UPU chief discuss siege fallout

HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti met the Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Bishar Hussein in Doha yesterday. The meeting comes in response to the complaint submitted by Qatar to the UPU, concerning the violations of the constitution and conventions of the Union by the siege countries, which is the first of its kind in the world and a dangerous precedent. The meeting discussed the violations of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) regulations, particularly Article 4 of the Union’s conventions, regarding the freedom of transit of  postal mail. It also clarified that postal mail is a human right and their delivery to their owners is a social right. The meeting also reviewed ways to develop and strengthen the co-operation in postal field between Qatar and the UPU.
