Girl killed after tree strikes tent in Swiss storm

A 12-year-old Latvian girl was killed on Monday when a tree uprooted by a storm struck a tent near the Swiss capital Berne, police said.A woman was also injured in the accident in Boenigen, a town south-east of Berne, police added.Southern Switzerland has been hit by torrents of rain in recent days.Local authorities blocked roads due to mudslides triggered by the wet weather in the south-eastern canton of Graubuenden. Some 50 people were airlifted out of the area with helicopters, police said.
