Al Jazeera Academy broke new ground during the Eid holidays by having two teams represented at the World Scholar’s Cup competition. More than 3,500 students from across the globe gathered in Hanoi, Vietnam, for the Global Round of the competition. The winners will be crowned in November at Yale University as World Scholars 2017. “Promoting academic excellence is a core value of the school and this competition provided many opportunities to develop academic skills from collaborative writing exercises, scavenger hunts and team debates,” Al Jazeera Academy said in a press statement. The World Scholar’s Cup is more than just an academic competition - it is an opportunity for students to interact on a global platform as over 60 nationalities are represented at the competition. Al Jazeera Academy was also honoured to be received by the Qatari ambassador to Vietnam Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi, who supported the competition as part of Qatar’s attempts to develop its National Vision 2030. “Academic competitions are a regular part of the student life at Al Jazeera Academy and by entering these competitions we prove that Al Jazeera can be competitive on the world stage,” the statement added.
