The much-anticipated 2017 Honda CR-V has been launched in Qatar. Domasco, the distributor for Honda in Qatar, unveiled the redesigned and re-engineered Honda SUV. The CR-V, one of the ‘pillar models’ of Honda, has enjoyed good success in Qatar too. With 730,000 units sold globally last year, Honda claims that this is ‘the highest selling SUV in the world’. The fifth generation CR-V has gone under the knife and come out quite a looker.“The Honda CR-V is one of our popular models and we are extremely pleased to launch the new model in Qatar. Compared to the previous generation, the all-new CR-V raises the bar with a major update both interior and exterior. Customers will find the new CR-V offers the highest levels of comfort, performance and driving experience and is great value for money,” said Faisal Sharif, managing director of Domasco. The new front grille along with the sleek headlamps gives the CR-V an aggressive look. The LED DRLs accentuate this character. The stylish new LED tail lamps make this a great SUV to look at from the rear too. The interior of the CR-V has undergone a makeover too. The cabin is more spacious, the rear seat knee room is now more — thanks to the 40mm increase in wheelbase. The boot space too has moved by 250mm. It has a seven-inch infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Under the hood, it comes with a four-cylinder, 2.4-litre i-VTech engine that produces 184hp and 244Nm. It comes coupled to a CVT with Honda G-Shift control logic. This Honda also has a host of driver-assist and safety features like the Driver Attention Monitor, which detects driver fatigue and produces four-stage visual and audio alerts, when it detects diminished attention being paid to the road. Another interesting feature is the tailgate – the height of which is programmable and also comes with an anti-pinch feature. Another first on the CR-V is the electronic parking brake and brake hold. Gone is the physical lever and now that has been replaced by a button. This Honda also comes with a charging port in the rear, remote engine start, walk away locking and also Honda LaneWatch – like in the Pilot – which helps reduce the blindspot on the right hand side of the vehicle. “The features are great and it’ll reach all of the touch points that our customers are looking for. We have got big expectations for this. Existing and previous generation CR-V’s have done exceptionally well in Qatar. So we expect the same from this model as well,” Greig Roffey, head of sales and marketing at Domasco Honda, told Gulf Times. Amr Farag, operations manager, Domasco Honda, was also present. There are four models available – DX, LX, EX and Touring. Customers can choose from nine exterior and two interior colours. The prices start at QR89,900 for the DX model, QR99,900 for the LX model, QR113,900 for the EX and QR125,900 for the top-grade Touring.
